Praslin Island

Praslin Island

Praslin is a 45-minute ferry ride from Mahé and is widely regarded as the most beautiful island in the archipelago. The UNESCO-listed Vallée de Mai is the primary draw — a primeval palm forest where the extraordinary coco de mer palm, unique to Praslin and Curieuse, grows wild alongside six other endemic palm species and the critically endangered Seychelles black parrot. Anse Lazio, on the north-western tip, consistently ranks among the world's finest beaches: a sweeping arc of white sand between two granite headlands, with clear water perfect for snorkelling. The island has a good selection of luxury and boutique hotels and provides an excellent base for day trips to nearby Curieuse and Cousin Islands.
