Okavango Delta

Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is formed when the Kavango River, originating in the Angolan highlands, flows south into the Kalahari Desert and fans out across a flat alluvial plain — never reaching the sea but instead creating a 15,000 km² oasis of life. Seasonal flooding between July and September transforms the landscape, pushing wildlife onto permanent islands and creating idyllic conditions for mokoro (dugout canoe) exploration and walking safaris. The delta supports extraordinary biodiversity: over 450 bird species, 130 mammal species, and large populations of buffalo, elephant, hippo, lion, leopard, and wild dog. Private concessions bordering the Moremi Game Reserve offer the most exclusive and authentic experiences.
