Garden Route
The Garden Route stretches along South Africa's southern coastline through one of the country's most beautiful and diverse regions. The N2 highway winds through ancient yellowwood forests, around turquoise lagoons, across dramatic bridges and through charming towns including George, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley. The Tsitsikamma National Park offers spectacular hiking along the Otter Trail and suspension bridge walks above the Storms River Mouth. Knysna's celebrated lagoon and Featherbed Nature Reserve are highlights, while Plettenberg Bay offers whale watching from July to December and year-round dolphin sightings. Bungee jumping from the Bloukrans Bridge — the world's highest commercial bungee at 216 metres — is a popular adrenaline landmark.
